How does this app know what's safe?
We look at your local weather (temperature, feels-like, humidity, wind, rain, and UV) and your dog's profile: size, coat, age, snout shape, and walking surface. Each hour gets rated Good, Caution, Short walk, or Avoid.
Is it too hot to walk my dog?
Past about 85°F, I'd shorten or skip walks for most dogs. Flat-faced breeds, thick coats, seniors, and big dogs feel the heat sooner. Don't forget the pavement: press the back of your hand on it for 7 seconds. If it's uncomfortable for you, it's too hot for paws.
When is it too cold for a walk?
Many dogs are fine down to freezing. Below 20°F is when I'd watch more closely, especially for small dogs, short coats, puppies, and seniors. Lifted paws or shivering means it's time to head inside.
